Trinity Gay, the 15-year-old daughter of Olympic sprinter Tyson Gay, was killed on Sunday in a shooting outside a Kentucky restaurant.

According to Charisma News, police are investigating the shooting as a possible homicide. They currently have two suspects in custody.

Tyson Gay, 34, won three gold medals at the World Championships in Osaka, Japan in 2007. In the 2012 Olympic Games in London he won a silver medal in the 4 x 100-meter relay team, although the medal was later revoked when he tested positive for a banned substance.

Gay expressed his grief over his daughter’s death to NBC-affiliate Lex 18 television:

"She didn't make it. I'm so confused. She was just here last week for fall break. It's so crazy."

Condolences poured in on social media for the Gay family.

"Sending our thoughts and prayers to (Tyson Gay) and his loved ones as they mourn the tragic & senseless loss of his daughter, Trinity," USA Track & Field, the sport's national governing body, wrote on Twitter.

Fellow American Olympian Lolo Jones also tweeted her sympathy for the Gays:

"Heavy heart today for Tyson Gay and his family," Jones, 34, wrote on Twitter. "Lord please ease their pain and give them strength during this time."

Trinity Gay was a rising star of the Lafayette High School track team in Lexington, Kentucky.
