At least three people were killed Sunday after a pair of gunmen burst into a Kenyan church and opened fire.
According to reports from the USA Today, the Kenyan church was packed when the shooters arrived.
Three children were among the wounded.
The attack happened in Likoni, which is near to Mombasa.
“This has all the indicators of a terrorist attack because the attackers did not steal anything and appeared focused on killing,” Likoni’s police chief Robert Mureithi told reporters, adding that there was a high number of bullet cartridges at the scene.
Reports say the attackers then tried to raid another church nearby but fled when they saw police in the area.
Authorities say no one or group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
In other parts of Kenya, the Somali Islamist militant group called al Shabaab has attacked churches in retaliation against the Kenyan army, which has taken a stand against al Shabaab.
