While some are questioning Bethel Church member and hostage negotiator Cameron Gamble, others are praising him for helping to negotiate the release of a mother and wife.

Gamble works with Project TAKEN, a group of people with military background that train people and travel to support Christian missionaries, anti-human trafficking and other needs.

In November, Gamble surfaced in a YouTube video in which he said he was working for an anonymous client to help bring back Sherri Papini, who had been abducted Nov. 2.

Papini had gone for a run near her California home. Her husband came home and reported her missing that night.

"My name is Cameron Gamble, and I'm an international kidnap and ransom consultant," Gamble said in the video. "I've been retained by an individual who wishes to remain anonymous, an individual who has come forward to offer a cash reward for a ransom for Sherri Papini's safe return to her family."

Papini was gone for 22 days and then reappeared on the side of a road Thanksgiving morning.

"Some have asked about Cameron Gamble's involvement with the Papinis and his connection to Bethel. Cameron, his wife and five children are a wonderful family and valued church members in good standing with our church and community. The Gambles have served voluntarily and professionally in various capacities for all the years they have attended Bethel Church," Bethel church said in a statement.

Project TAKEN said it offered its program free of charge.'
