The House Freedom Caucus, the group of lawmakers who strongly opposed the American Health Care Act, has approved a new bill aimed at repealing President Obama’s Affordable Care Act.

Politico.com reports that Republicans are hoping to have the House vote on the new bill as early as next week.

“It’s only a matter of time now,” said Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.), the House’s chief deputy whip, after members of the Freedom Caucus put their stamp of approval on the bill.

A statement from the conservative group said, “While the revised version still does not fully repeal Obamacare, we are prepared to support it to keep our promise to the American people to lower healthcare costs. We look forward to working with our Senate colleagues to improve the bill.”

However, the bill will likely have a rough road ahead in the Senate if Republicans are even able to garner enough votes for it in the House.

“I think we now need to make sure we hold the people that were ‘yes’ before. And if we do, I’m cautiously optimistic we can get this done,” said Tuesday Group co-Chairman Tom MacArthur (R-N.J.).

The new bill would allow states to opt out of central parts of Obamacare, as long as they provide alternatives.
