The Islamic State is advancing into Kobane, a Syrian town near the Turkish border, according to reports. ISIS has been trying to capture Kobane since September, fighting against the Kurds, who gained control of Kobane in 2012.

IS reportedly also captured three eastern districts earlier this week.

According to reports, the Kurds’ weapons are undermatched and Sunday, one Kurdish fighter blew herself up to kill IS fighters. Arin Mirkan killed about 27 rebel fighters.

"If necessary, all our female and male fighters will become Arin,” Kurdish forces YPK said in a statement. “The attacks by [IS] against Kobane will not be allowed to achieve their goals.”

Yesterday, the Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said: "We will do everything possible to help the people of Kobane because they are our brothers and sisters."

Turkey is being asked to offer asylum to some 160,000 Syrians who have fled violence in the region.

Davutoglu also said they were willing to send soldiers to help the conflict if “others do their own part.”
