ISIS has railed against Pope Francis and has made it clear that the war they are waging against the West and Christianity is indeed a religious war.

ChristianToday.com reports that ISIS' recent statements appeared in the latest issue of the jihadists’ magazine, Dabiq.

In the magazine, ISIS accuses Pope Francis of promoting a “false narrative” and says that Christianity is a “religion of polytheism.”

ISIS’ statements come shortly after Pope Francis responded to the murder of a French priest for which the Islamic State took responsibility.

In his statements, the Pope acknowledged that the world is at war, but said it is not a religious war, but rather “a war of interest, there is a war for money, a war for natural resources, a war to dominate people.”

ISIS militans wrote in the article titled “Why we hate you and why we fight you” that “This is a divinely-warranted war between the Muslim nation and the nations of disbelief. Indeed, waging jihad – spreading the rule of Allah by the sword – is an obligation found in the Koran, the word of our Lord, just as it was an obligation sent in the Torah, the Psalms, and the Gospel."

The article went on to say, "The fact is, even if you were to stop bombing us, imprisoning us, torturing us, vilifying us, and usurping our lands, we would continue to hate you because our primary reason for hating you will not cease to exist until you embrace Islam."

ISIS’ main goal is to establish a caliphate and to bring all people under service to Islam.
