A Christian church in Israel has been vandalized by suspected Jewish extremists who desecrated it with graffiti.

According to The Christian Post, the extremists used red ink to write hateful messages about Christians on the Dormition Abbey compound of the Orthodox Church of Jerusalem.

The writing included the phrases “Christian to Hell,” “May his name be obliterated,” and “Death to the heathen Christians the enemies of Israel.”

Authorities are currently searching for the perpetrators. So far, none have been taken into custody.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned the crime, saying that it went against Israel’s policy of being a safe-haven for Christians and those of all faiths, and calling for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.

The Dormition Abbey is a popular tourist site and is located near the spot believed to be the place of Jesus’ Last Supper and a tomb where King David was reportedly buried.
