Israeli Airstrike Hits Residential Tower, 20 Injured

Israel struck a residential Gaza tower with rocketfire Monday night, injuring 20 Palestinian civilians. The airstrike follows a similar attack on Sunday when a 14 story residential building was blasted and demolished.

Israeli officials believed the tower, called the Italian Tower, housed a Hamas “command and control center.” Residents had been warned to evacuate previously when Israel performed a drone airstrike, referred to as a “knock on the roof.”

In a separate attack Monday, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) targeted an area beside two refugee shelters and a medical facility, believing rocket launchers were concealed in the area. The IDF warned civilians to evacuate the area before striking the area. According to the IDF, the “rocket arsenal concealed within the facility” was destroyed in the attack.

Palestinian ministry spokesman Ashraf el-Qedra reported that nine Palestinians were killed during Monday’s attacks; this report has not been confirmed.
