Jerry Falwell Jr.: Trump is Evangelicals’ ‘Dream President’

Jerry Falwell Jr., the Chancellor of the world’s largest Christian college, Liberty University, recently said in an interview that, in President Trump, “evangelicals have found their dream president.”

In an interview with Judge Jeanine Pirro on the Fox News segment “Justice with Judge Jeanine,” Falwell was asked about evangelicals’ approval ratings of President Trump in the President’s first 100 days in office.

Judge Jeanine noted that evangelicals’ approval rating of Trump is at 73 percent, which is nearly double that of other Americans’, and then asked Falwell what he believes are some of the President’s greatest accomplishments in the eyes of evangelicals.

Falwell cited Trump’s appointment of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, his renewed support for Israel, as well as his focus on border security and new jobs.

Judge Jeanine also asked Falwell about the recent riots at UC Berkeley in which conservative speaker Ann Coulter was prevented from giving a speech.

Falwell noted that when Sen. Bernie Sanders spoke at Liberty University, he was treated with respect despite his holding a number of views with which the majority conservative student body disagreed. Falwell also stated, “I think that’s what higher education is supposed to be about, is hearing opinions you don’t agree with and learning from the other side….you can’t have political correctness and academic freedom on the same campus.”
