Rapper Kanye West has reportedly gotten a new tattoo that symbolizes the Virgin Mary. The tattoo depicts four letter m’s arranged in a square formation; the symbol was used in the 13th century for the Virgin Mary.
Christian Today reports the tattoo is a reference to West’s new album “So Help Me God.” The album cover includes the same symbol.
In a recent interview, West said the album was intended to praise the Lord.
"This new album's coming out of a fight to want to design. It's a joyful noise unto the Lord. It is still the struggle, but it's the beauty from the struggle — like the song 'Amazing Grace' — coming out of the worst pain possible and making the most beautiful song possible. I want to perform 'Only One' as many times as possible," he said.
According to Christian today, West said “So Help Me God” was influenced by his Christian faith, though some Christians have expressed doubt that the rapper’s faith is genuine.
