Liberty University has hired the former Baylor Athletic Director who resigned after an alleged sexual assault by members of the football team.

Ian McCaw will join Liberty University, filling the spot of Jeff Barber, who resigned in November.

McCaw himself resigned in May from Baylor after a group of female students said football players had sexually assaulted them.

In a report, Baylor University said that the former athletic director, McCaw, and the now-fired football coach Art Briles, knew about the sexual assault and did not report it.

Baylor University president Ken Starr was also fired over the incident.

In the announcement of McCaw’s hiring, Liberty University president Jerry Falwell, Jr. said he was “excited” to have McCaw join the staff.

“Ian’s success really speaks for itself,” Falwell said. “You look at what Baylor was able to do during his tenure, it fits perfectly with where we see our sports programs going. This is an exciting time for us.”

Said McCaw: "My vision for Liberty is to position it as a pre-eminent Christian athletic program in America and garner the same type of appeal among the Christian community as Notre Dame achieves among the Catholic community and BYU garners from the Mormons."
