Mark Burnett and Roma Downey to Direct 'Ben Hur,' Paramount Learned from Mistakes of 'Noah'

Christian husband and wife team Mark Burnett and Roma Downey have signed with Paramount to direct the remake of “Ben Hur.” Burnett and Downey produced the hit television miniseries “The Bible.”

Faith Driven Consumer believes that Paramount Pictures learned from its mistakes with “Noah.” The media group says that Darren Aronofsky’s direction did not appeal to the Christian consumers that flocked to the box office.

“If faith driven consumers were a core target for “Noah,” Darren Aronofsky was the wrong choice,” Faith Driven Consumer founded Chris Stone said.

Stone is optimistic about the story that the couple will create with “Ben Hur” when it is released in February 2016.

“Burnett and Downey...have a strong track record of success in understanding, respecting, and reaching Faith Driven Consumers. If “Ben Hur” is managed like their previous projects -- which are the model of how to do this right -- it could be the next “Passion of the Christ,” which set the standard for Biblical box office performance,” he said.
