Former Mars Hill Church Pastor Mark Driscoll is launching a new church with the first service scheduled for Easter Sunday.

Christian Today reports that Driscoll is launching Trinity Church in Scottsdale, Arizona, and will hold the first service there on Easter.

Driscoll resigned from Mars Hill Church in October 2014 amidst allegations of abuse of power, plagiarism, emotional abuse, and manipulation.

He is said to have taken a year off from ministry “to learn, repent, grow, heal, and meet with many people involved,” according to the new church’s website.

Driscoll and former Mars Hill elder Sutton Turner have more recently been accused of misappropriating church funds, but Driscoll has denied the allegations, calling them “false and malicious.”

Trinity Church will meet in the Glass and Garden Drive-In church, a building designated by local media as one of the “10 Coolest Churches.” The building can hold 1,400 people.

Trinity Church’s website notes that the first meeting there will be historic since the church building has not been used since Easter of 1966.

“Even though it's last minute, as the ink on our rental contract is still wet, we look forward to meeting you at our modest open house and prayer meeting,” said Trinity’s website. "Pastor Mark will be sharing our church vision as we begin gathering our launch team."
