A modern-day telling of the prodigal son parable will be depicted in an upcoming film. “Wayward: The Prodigal Son” will hit select theaters on November 7.

The movie comes from Cedar Fort Entertainment and is written, directed and produced by Rob Diamond. Diamond will also being playing the role of Robert McMillan, the father in the movie.

Diamond said, "I made 'Wayward: The Prodigal Son' because the Biblical story has always touched a deep place in my soul. I have been on the receiving end of forgiveness many times for the mistakes I've made in my life. It's the perfect story of love, redemption and forgiveness."

"I also made it for anyone who loves stories of redemption and for those seeking some hope and forgiveness in their lives or the lives of the people they cherish most who might be hurting inside.”

Cedar Fort acquisition manager Spencer Harden said the film will resonate with everyone. "We all know someone who has gone astray,” he said. “Every parent hopes it won't happen to their child, but they grow up with minds of their own.”
