A Boko Haram suicide bombing killed 21 people in the Nigerian city of Kano on Friday (Nov. 27). Christian Today reports a suicide bomber targeted a Shia Muslim procession that was traveling through the village of Dakasoye, on its way to Zaria.

The suicide bomber reportedly ran into the crowd of thousands before he could be detected and detonated the explosives strapped to his body.

Muhammad Turi, who was leading the procession, said, "Our procession came under a suicide attack. We lost 21 people and several others have been injured. We are not surprised that we've been attacked because this is the situation all over the country.”

"This will not deter us from our religious observance,” he continued. “Even if all of us were bombed the last person will carry on with this duty."

The bombing validates fears that Boko Haram will be concentrating its attacks on “soft” targets using suicide bombers.
