A North Carolina pastor was killed this week in a freak accident which occurred as he prepared to serve food to people in need.

Charisma News reports Henry Lineberger, associate pastor of New Beginnings World Outreach Center was killed while checking engine fluids of the church van prior to delivering meals to the poor. Police believe Lineberger failed to set the van’s emergency brake and the van slid backward, pinning the pastor underneath.

Church members said Lineberger was an asset to the church and community who would be missed.

New Beginnings member Sarah Snyder told a local news stations, "He was like our brother. He always had open arms for everyone. We all will miss him greatly."

Member Sherry Leyva agreed.

"He will be missed. Always greeted people, always had such a positive attitude. You could be negative and he would get you positive again. Yeah, you can't replace that man. You can't replace him."
