A Pentagon-approved seminar claims that sexism stems from the Bible and the U.S. Constitution. The course, which has been taken by 2,075 Department of Defence employees since 2011, says that Bible and the Constitution has influenced modern sexism, and pushed it to continue over time.

The course says, “Quotes from the Bible can be misinterpreted as having a sexist influence when brought out of context and not fully understood.”

The seminar also says that the Constitution’s “We the people” preamble, “only included white men: Slaves and women were not included until later in history.”

It then continues to criticize the Declaration of Independence for its wording of “all men” being created equal.

Pentagon spokesman Lt. Cmdr. Nate Christensen said, “The content of the lesson is provided to generate academic discussion concerning how these historical documents have been included in discussions about the topic of sexism.”

The course is now going under review for accuracy and relevance, The Washington Times reports.
