Planned Parenthood Received $1.5 Billion in Taxpayer Funds in Three Years

An investigation into Planned Parenthood found that the agency received at least $1.5 billion in state and federal funding from 2010 to 2012.

The report from the Government Accountability Office also found that the Planned Parenthood Federation of America along with five other pro-abortion advocacy businesses spent about $482 million of the federal funding during those three years.

The report came after some 60 Congress members, who are pro-life, asked for reports on federal funding spending by the six pro-choice agencies and companies. Those agencies included: Advocates for Youth, Guttmacher Institute, International Planned Parenthood Federation, Population Council, and the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States.

"The Obama Administration is committed to advancing a pro-abortion agenda and continually has placed the demands of abortion advocates and providers at the top of its public health agenda for six years [and] all the expenses [are] the taxpayers," said the director of Family Research Council's Center for Human Dignity, Arina Grossu, in a press release.

According to the report, Planned Parenthood receives about $500 million in taxpayer funding each year. In 2013, abortions were 94 percent of the company’s pregnancy services.

Under the Hyde Amendment law, the government cannot use taxpayer money to pay for abortions, but agencies, such as Planned Parenthood, are eligible for federal funding because they also provide other services, The Christian Post reports.

"The effort to bar Planned Parenthood health centers from receiving any federal funds would shatter the country's public health safety net and jeopardize women's health," the Planned Parenthood website claims. "Without Planned Parenthood's 800-plus health centers, millions of women will have no place to go for basic, preventive health care."
