Police Release 12 Suspects Apprehended after London Terror Attack

London police have released all 12 suspects who were arrested in connection with the London Bridge terror attack on Saturday night.

According to the Washington Examiner, police have not explained why they have released the suspects or what, in particular, they were being investigated for.

The 12 suspects ranged in age from 19 to 60 and were all arrested in eastern London.

Additionally, police have identified the three perpetrators who carried out the vehicle and stabbing attacks which killed 22 people.

The three attackers' names are Khuram Shazad Butt, Rachid Redouane, and Youssef Zaghba. According to CNN.com, police revealed that Butt had been a person of concern for his ties to an outlawed radical Islamist group.

Assistant Police Commissioner Mark Rowley said that the investigation of Butt had been scaled back since police did not have evidence that he posed a threat to national security.

Redouane and Zaghba, however, were not known to police before the London attack.

Police, as well as the UK’s Prime Minister Theresa May, have faced criticism for not foreseeing and halting the threat posed by Butt.

England has faced an increase in terror attacks in recent months. In March, an attack occurred on Westminster Bridge; in May, a bomb was detonated at the Manchester Arena; then last week, the London Bridge attack occurred, causing PM May to state, "We cannot and must not pretend that things can continue as they are. Enough is enough."
