Although he promised during his campaign to move the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, President Trump has now postponed this move, according to CBN News.

The President made the announcement in a Trinity Broadcasting Network interview with former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

"I want to give that a shot before I even think about moving the embassy to Jerusalem," Trump said, referring to brokering a peace deal between Israelis and Palestinians.

"If we can make peace between the Palestinians and Israel, I think it'll lead to ultimately peace in the Middle East, which has to happen," he added.

Although some have criticized the President for walking back this promise, Vice President Mike Pence and others in the Trump administration say it is not a question of “if” the embassy move will happen, but of “when.”

Many Israelis see this failure to act as evidence of another empty promise. Other presidents and leaders have promised to move the embassy to Jerusalem, but action is yet to be taken on this front.

President Trump has already been on a visit to Israel where he met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The two reportedly discussed options for a possible Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement.
