Ted Cruz said Thursday he would not be endorsing Donald Trump.

"I am not in the habit of supporting people who attack my wife and attack my father," Cruz said at a morning meeting on Thursday in Cleveland.

He spoke Wednesday at the Republican National Convention and noticeably withheld an endorsement of Trump, prompting boos from the audience.

Then, just as Cruz finished his speech, Trump appeared to join his family in the VIP area and gave a thumps up gesture.

Cruz only mentioned Trump’s name once during his speech.

"I congratulate Donald Trump on winning the nomination last night," Cruz said. "And like each of you, I want to see the principles that our party believes prevail in November."

"Don't stay home in November," Cruz said. "Stand and speak and vote your conscience."

Trump tweeted about the speech: "Wow, Ted Cruz got booed off the stage, didn't honor the pledge! I saw his speech two hours early but let him speak anyway. No big deal!"

According to reports, after his speech Cruz was insulted as he left the stage.

"I think it was awful," New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said. "And quite frankly, I think it was something selfish. And he signed a pledge. And it's his job to keep his word."
