Samaritan's Purse Comes to the Rescue of Wisconsin Flood Victims

Franklin Graham’s humanitarian organization Samaritan’s Purse has deployed a disaster relief team to aid residents in the Wisconsin counties of Kenosha, Racine, and Walworth.

Residents in these counties are suffering from severe flooding caused by historic rainfall. The downpour caused the Fox River to rise and flood the area. The Samaritan’s Purse team dispatched individuals accompanied by a semi truck stocked with tools and emergency medical supplies to the southern Wisconsin countries.

"Hundreds of Wisconsin families have been affected by these historic floods," said Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan's Purse. "We want to share the hope of Jesus Christ with them by letting them know they are not alone and helping them start to get back on their feet after this devastating disaster."

The Samaritan’s Purse team is working with local authorities to mobilize volunteers to help families restore their damaged homes.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker declared a state of emergency and called in the National Guard to assist residents.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the flooding,” Walker said in a statement, as reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, jsonline.com. “I have instructed state agencies and the Wisconsin National Guard to help those affected by the flooding and to continue to provide resources to assist with the response and recovery efforts. I thank the Wisconsin National Guard, Wisconsin Emergency Management, and all state agencies for their coordinated response to this emergency.”

Meanwhile, the Samaritan’s Purse relief team is conducting their disaster relief efforts from Mt. Zion Christian Church in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Chaplains from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association also accompanied the relief team and are ready to minister to those in need.
