The building that is home to a 500-member Sudanese congregation has been absconded by government security agents. Sudan’s National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) padlocked and shuttered the Sudan Pentecostal Church (SPC) church building in Khartoum Aug. 24, reports Morning Star News.

A source that requested anonymity said parishioners fear the government might sell the church building which houses the Khartoum Christian Center (KCC) that has been in that location for 20 years.

“The government has made it clear that no member or church leader is allowed to worship at the SPC building until further notification,” the source told Morning Star News. “Any violation of this directive will lead to arrest.”

Government officials claim the building retrieved from the congregation because it was originally zoned as office space. The agents have also informed church leaders to search for another meeting place.

“As we firstly rely on our Lord’s grace and protection that His name will be glorified through this tribulation the SPC is passing through, we also urge you to send this message to wherever you see it’s convenient for help,” said the source.
