Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has announced that he is supporting Texas Sen. Ted Cruz for president.

According to The Christian Examiner, Cruz’s campaign posted a video of Abbott’s endorsement late last night.

Abbott will officially endorse Cruz in Houston at one p.m. today.

"After 8 years of relentless attacks on our values from this White House, it's our duty as Texas conservatives to support a leader we can trust to restore our values and move this country forward," Abbott said in the video message. "That's why I'm supporting Ted Cruz for president."

Abbott added that Cruz represents conservative, Texas values and is a “constitutionalist.”

"Ted Cruz is our candidate, now let's do our part to take this country back," Abbott ended the video.

Gregg Matte, the pastor of Houston’s First Baptist Church, has also endorsed Cruz.

Cruz and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio are trying to emerge as the rival of billionaire businessman Donald Trump.

Trump won Tuesday’s Nevada caucus with nearly 50 percent of the vote. Rubio came in second with almost 24 percent, and Cruz placed third with 21.4 percent.
