Sony Pictures Animation will release a new movie based on the Nativity this Christmas; but “The Lamb” will be different than other Christmas movies with its animated all-animal cast.
Sony is working alongside Christian Hollywood executive DeVon Franklin to produce the film. Tom Sheridan wrote the script for the movie.
Franklin, Seventh-Day Adventist pastor said, “There is a desire for more uplifting content, and content that can inspire and challenge people in a way that makes us think more about our purpose, more about our destiny, and more about our history.”
Hollywood's Year of the Bible has brought multiple high-grossing films including "Noah," "God's Not Dead" and "Heaven Is for Real."
NBC president of late-night programming Paul Telegdy said that there is a secret to the success of religious movies. "There are not a lot of books being read these days," he said, "But there is one that's being read and reread, and that's the Bible."
