Polls show that the presidential race is shaping up to be a close one between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton.

An electoral college map released by RealClearPolitics.com shows Clinton leading Trump’s projected 266 electoral votes with 272 projected electoral votes.

However, as RedState.com points out, if any of Clinton’s battleground states are switched, Trump would likely win the election.

Trump also will have to win key battleground states, however. “Florida is a must win for Trump,” according to the RedState article. Currently, Trump has a 0.2 lead there, according to RealClearPolitics (RCP).

There are 15 swing states, according to RCP. These states are Florida, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Maine, Maine CD2, North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, and Iowa.

Combined, these states have 171 electoral votes.

Clinton has most consistently maintained a lead in the polls, but commentators are far from ruling Trump out.

According to the Independent Journal Review, massive turnout at Trump rallies may signal that the popular vote is on Trump’s side. Additionally, unexpected gains in battleground states such as Colorado have the Trump campaign hopeful.

“With Trump even with Clinton in linchpin states like Florida and North Carolina and uncomfortably close in firewall states like Michigan and Colorado, this is, in fact, a close election,” observes Allahpundit for HotAir.com.
