In an interview with CBS News’ “60 Minutes” President-Elect Donald Trump condemned the violence some have resorted to in the wake of his election and also told Americans “Don’t be afraid.”

Trump firmly condemned the hate crimes and violence perpetrated by some people who are reportedly his supporters.

“I am so saddened to hear that. And I say, ‘Stop it.’ If it-- if it helps. I will say this, and I will say right to the cameras: Stop it,” he said.

He also urged minorities and others who are fearful of what a Trump presidency might mean not to be afraid.

“Don't be afraid. We are going to bring our country back. But certainly, don't be afraid,” he said, adding that he believes fear is exacerbated by the media.

"I think it's built up by the press, because, frankly, they'll take every single little incident that they can find in this country, which could've been there before.”

Although Trump initially said the anti-Trump protests were “very unfair,” he later acknowledged the protesters “passion for our great country."

Trump also said that he will be foregoing the $400,000 yearly salary given to the president.
