U.S. officials at the U.S. Embassy in China recently helped a persecuted Chinese Christian family just before they were deported back to China.

According to The Christian Post, Chen Quiqiu, the wife of Xie Yang who is in prison in China on trumped up charges of inciting subversion, along with her two daughters, were imprisoned in Bangkok, Thailand, and were about to be deported to China.

That was when U.S. officials stepped in. The officials led Chen and her daughters out the back door of the prison just before Chinese officials came to get them. When the Chinese officials heard they had escaped, they began their pursuit.

The U.S. officials, with Chen and her daughters, reached the Bangkok airport before the Chinese officials caught up with them. A heated altercation that nearly turned physical occurred between the U.S. and Chinese officials, but eventually Chen and her daughters were able to leave the airport.

They arrived in the U.S. on March 17.

Chen and her daughters left the country after Chen was called in by Chinese authorities after reports were circulating about what her husband was suffering in prison.

"We're going on a trip," Chen recalled explaining to her daughters when it became clear they could be in danger from authorities.

Bob Fu of the Texas-based China Aid also helped Chen and her family, using his connections in Bangkok to help the family escape there where the U.S. officials were able to help them.
