Dislike from evangelical Christians for Hillary Clinton has run deep for decades, according to an analysis piece from the Washington Post.

While Donald Trump has long been associated with crass comments and multiple marriages, it’s Clinton that white evangelicals do not trust.

The dislike for Clinton seemed to start in the early 1990s during her husband’s presidential run. She was asked about her career, and responded: “I supposed I could have stayed home, baked cookies and had teas.”

At a 2004 Republican convention, fortune cookies were given out that read: “#1 reason to ban human cloning: Hillary Clinton.”

And while Clinton is a practicing United Methodist who once even taught Sunday School, her support for abortion rights and feminism are in contrast to some deep-seated beliefs on biblical ideas of womanhood.

“I was told I was supporting a daughter of Satan and that I had the blood of 60 million babies on my hands,” said Deborah Fikes, a former member of the board of the National Association of Evangelicals, who endorsed Clinton.

The latest Post-ABC poll showed that 70 percent of white evangelicals have an unfavorable view of Clinton, and 72 percent of evangelicals say she’s not trustworthy or honest.
