I am optimistic about the church of Jesus Christ. We’ve been through societal transformations before.

Historically, there have been two tools to help guide us in our travels. One is a map, and the other is a compass. They are two very different things.

If you did little more than read headlines, this week welcomed same-sex marriage into the mainstream of our culture.
Just once, I’d like to see a TV interview go more like this:
Same-sex marriage is headed for your community. This is no time for fear or outrage or politicizing. It’s a time for forgiven sinners, like us, to do what the people of Christ have always done. It’s time for us to point beyond our family values and our culture wars to the cross of Christ.
It's time for every church to be crystal-clear on this issue. Adding marriage to your church constitution won’t solve all the problems, but it may save you from trouble down the road.
The problem I have with preachers deciding to "preach through the Bible" is that it assumes any sermon you bring from any text is God's Word for your flock for that day.
There is a Judge who cannot be swayed by public opinion.
Something I learned while listening to sports talk radio (yes you heard me right).
#1 "I will tame my tongue. When it comes to my wife, I need to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger."
Like many followers of Christ, I am often overwhelmed at the sin in my life and how little of Christ is actually formed in me.
Yes, we all think we are pretty tolerant and open-minded. But what if my belief system says its okay to steal your iPad?
Soup and sermons go down better when shared with friends.
