"There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience." Hebrews 4: 9-11

A day off from our busy lives in order to reconnect with our families, and reengergize ourselves, is a great thing. However, the family dinners and long drives, if done on the Sabbath you say we should observe, would be a violation of that actual Sabbath. For Christians, the Sabbath is everyday as we rest from our self-righteous works of trying to please God through our behavior. Believers are not under the law, not even Sabbath keeping, no matter what kind of pride we develop by thinking we are keeping it. When Christ died on the Cross, he sat down, because His work was done. We need to rest like Him because we are already right with God through faith in Jesus Christ and His finished work.
