"House of Worship" – Music Review
- Wednesday, July 30, 2003
Artist: Twila Paris
Label: Sparrow Records
When you’re one of worship music’s premiere songwriters, you probably have to take a little time between projects — say, a decade or so — to live up to fans’ expectations. And with her first exclusively worship-oriented CD in 10 years, Twila Paris makes it well worth the wait.
Ten new songs, along with two reconfigured favorites, are featured with half the new offerings penned after the birth of her son. Several songs are sure to become church favorites, particularly “Glory and Honor” and “Make Us One.”
Also a standout, “For Eternity” is reminiscent of the musical stylings of Michael W. Smith. And the new version of “We Will Glorify” is also inspiring with layers of music and voices building upon one another that’s highlighted by Paris’ lilting vocals. So while it’s been 10 years in the making, the results of "House of Worship" are worth every last second.
