Where does Val Halloran find the time to record a beautiful, inspirational CD called I Had No Idea? The singer-songwriter Val Halloran has eight children, and her grandson is only two years younger than her youngest.
The Broken Records’ recording artist has a 70s flavor to her voice -- think Anne Murray mixed with Karen Carpenter -- and uses her alto/tenor range on easy-going songs like Keeper Of My Heart and Father. According to Halloran, listeners have strongly responded to the inspirational favorite, By Your Grace.
I Had No Idea has been somewhat of a collaborative experience for Halloran. Most of the lyrics for Father came from her son, while her arranger/co-writer’s daughter, Leilani Clark, sang Keeper Of My Heart to a radio audience of 3 million as the winner of Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion talent contest this past April.
