Medical Justice

The medical profession has had a growing conflict of interest problem. Imagine buying a drug critical to your health, based on a researcher's recommendation, then discovering the researcher was paid by the drug company. This is not uncommon.

The International Committee of Medical Journal Editors should be applauded for their efforts to curb this problem. According to the Wall Street Journal, they are demanding more information from researchers.

Before articles can be published in medical journals in the future the authors will have to provide detailed disclosures. The information required will identify any potential conflicts the researchers may have.

The author of Proverbs 8:15 in speaking of wisdom says, "By me kings reign and rulers make laws that are just."

We need wise leaders adding justice and ethical guidelines to every industry.
