Can You Disappoint God?

July 9, 2013

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?”  As it is written: “ For You sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.  For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” - Romans 8:35-39

You cannot disappoint God. God knows all about you, all that you have done, all that you are thinking, and all that you will do in the future. However, He has chosen to love you with an unconditional love, which is not based on human effort, what you can or cannot do.

God’s eternal love for us is based on His Son’s work on the cross and nothing we do changes this. In fact, we cannot make ourselves more acceptable to God. He accepts us just the way we are. He sees our past, present, and future, and He has chosen to save us from an eternal death when we place our trust in Him.

The fact that He is Sovereign erases all the need for worry. When feelings of fear arise, you can turn to Him in faith and know that He will take care of you. This is the marvelous love of God and it never changes and it never fades.
