Have you ever gone to a jewelry store and asked to look at the diamond rings? What ís the first thing the jeweler gets out? He does not get out the diamond ring first…he pulls out a piece of black velvet. Why do you think he does this? Well, I’m glad you asked. He does this because he knows that the brilliance of the diamond will shine best against a dark background.
The Bible says in Matthew 5:16 - “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
The world today is dark and it is growing darker with every passing day. Abortion, corruption, terrorism, school shootings, and recently a pastor was shot simply doing what God called him to do. My friend, it is getting gloriously dark. Why would I say such a thing?
Jesus described many signs we would see in this world, just before He returns. In Matthew 24:33 we read – “….when you see all these things, know that it is near – at the doors!”
Yes, I believe Jesus is coming soon! This is our time to shine the brightest as Christians against this backdrop of darkness in our world.
Jesus said in John 14:1 – “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.”
The old consecration hymn, Let Others See Jesus in You has this to say in that second stanza, “Your life’s a book before their eyes, they’re reading it through and through, Say!, does it point them to the skies, do others see Jesus in you?”
Like that diamond ring my friend, go out today and be that light God has designed you to be. Shine my friend, shine!
