Freed From Sin

October 17, 2013

The Apostle Paul writes about “the glorious freedom of the children of God.” The further you go in the ways of God, the more you will appreciate and enjoy this wonderful freedom He gives.

My friend, we must remember, Jesus died to set you free from the guilt, punishment, power, and one day from the very presence of sin. When you think of guilt you can know He took the blame for everything wrong that you have ever done. When you think of punishment you can know that you were condemned to die, but Jesus died in your place. By accepting Him as your Savior you are now and forever free from the death sentence. When you think of power you can know Jesus conquered Satan and broke sin’s power over you.  The devil cannot make you do anything. We can choose to sin but we do not have to sin. As a child of God we have the Holy Spirit living in us who can keep us from sinning if will continually abide in Him.

Romans 6:22Romans 6:7Romans 6:11, and Romans 8:1 – “ ‘But now you have been set free from sin’….‘For when a person dies he is set free from the power of sin’...’ In the same way you are to think of yourselves as dead to sin but alive to God in union with Christ Jesus’…’There is no condemnation for those who live in union with Christ Jesus.’”

When you are tempted to sin keep on praying, my friend, and keep on believing that you are dead to that specific temptation and you have the power of His Holy Spirit to keep you from sinning.

Jesus said in John 8:36 “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”

James 4:7  “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”
