THE LORD IS COMING

Read: Micah 1

Key Verse: “Look! The Lord is coming from His dwelling place; He comes down and treads the high places of the earth.” - Micah 1:3

Micah was a prophet in Judah over 700 years before Christ’s birth. He witnessed the injustice in his homeland and desired reforms. This book is written about the same time as the prophecies of Isaiah and Hosea. The tone includes both doom and hope, bringing accountability and comfort. Sometimes it takes a strong word to produce clear changes. These words of destruction and restoration were aimed at the people’s hearts so they would return to the Lord. Have you spoken bold truth to anyone lately in an attempt to redirect or rescue them?

The name Micah means ‘Who is like the Lord?’ The first announcement from the prophet is to the nations that the Lord is bringing judgment because of their rebellion. He is pleading with them to listen and repent. The high places refer to literal mountains in Scripture but also that is where the worship of idols was happening. When nations turn to false gods, it is a just a matter of time before God intervenes. What are the false gods in your culture? What should change before the Lord comes with accountability?
