Read: Psalm 137

Key Verse: “May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth if I do not remember you, if I do not consider Jerusalem my highest joy.” - Psalm 137:6

As a former goalkeeper, I am tempted to remember the saves I should have made. Those goals are unhelpful to recall. Are there negative topics that try to grab your attention? The Israelites spent many years in exile because of their rebellion against God. In a foreign land, it could be easy to forget about Jerusalem and remain in mourning.

The psalmist, however, is intentional about remembering his homeland which is near to his heart. Jerusalem is a unique and significant place in God’s plan of salvation. The author is remembering the great city because it is important to God. At our church, we take communion at every service. The elements help us to never forget Jesus’ death and resurrection. What are three things that you always want to remember? Share them with someone today!
