Dealing with Fear
by Berni Dymet
Matt. 6:31-32 Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What will we eat?' or ‘What will we drink?' or ‘What will we wear?' For it is the Gentiles who strive for all these things; and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
We all go through times in our lives when we're afraid. When there's a brooding sense of impending doom in our hearts.
Now - don't get me wrong - I'm not naturally a fearful person, but you know something - it happens to me sometimes too. Actually, it happens to all of us.
Struggling along on your own doesn't work. And so often - other people just don't understand. What do you do with that fear? Let it eat away at you?
I don't want to sound corny - I'm not naturally a corny person. These days, I take my fear to Jesus. It's that simple. Not some cop out. Not some religious crutch.
Jesus said - "Don't be afraid. Don't worry about anything." Why - how can He say that? "Because" He says "your Dad in heaven knows exactly what you need."
You know something - it'd be corny if it didn't work. But every time I take my worry and anxiety to Him, He replaces it with a gentle peace.
