The Flight
by Berni Dymet
Eph. 5:18-19 ...be filled with the Spirit, as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts,
It's been a tough few weeks. Busy. Pressure. Deliver. You know the sort of thing. You've been through it. Racing here, racing there. It's all good stuff, helping other people.
But it takes its toll. Anyhow, you understand. So at the end of a long day in another city, I had a 90 minute flight back home again. I'd planed to read a good book, uplifting. But I was too tired.
So I popped some headphones in my ear, turned on my MP3 player, and just soaked up some worship music. I think it was the Gaither band as I recall. And you know, in that short time, the Lord soothed my spirit, He breathed life into my soul. He rested me and restored me so deeply - I can't begin to tell you.
Maybe that's why the Apostle Paul wrote:
...be filled with the Spirit, as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts
What a remedy for a spent soul.
