Yes … and No

by Berni Dymet

James 5:12 Above all, my beloved, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your "Yes" be yes and your "No" be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.

One of the things that I've seen over and over again, in life, in business … in ministry sad to say, is people who promise the earth and then simply don't deliver.

I'll do this and I'll do that … and then … nothing.

Over promising and under delivering is pretty common in this world.  It's out there - and it just doesn't cut the mustard.

Early on in the days of computing they invented a term called WYSIWYG - which stands for "What You See is What You Get".  It's a pretty good concept I reckon.  What you see is what you get.  That's not a bad way to live life.

So - when we say ‘yes' - we mean ‘yes' - and we carry through on the ‘yes', even if it's hard, even if it costs us.

And when we say ‘no' - we should mean ‘no' and we carry through on the ‘no' even if it's hard, even if it costs us.
Not a bad way to live life.  Not bad at all.
