God and the Widow
by Berni Dymet

Prov. 15:25 The LORD tears down the house of the proud, but maintains the widow's boundaries.

Isn't it easy in this world to be full of ourselves - to expect the world to revolve around us?  I've been there; you've been there.  And when we're full of pride - we look down our noses at those who, in our eyes, are less than us.

Let me ask you though - what's God's reaction to that sort of pride?  Have a listen with me:

Prov. 15:25 The LORD tears down the house of the proud, but maintains the widow's boundaries.

That blows me away - so short, so powerful.  Back when that was written - widows had no future.  They were alone, they had no rights and they couldn't own property.  They were nothing.

Yet God stands up for them - God protects them, He maintains their boundaries.  But the proud, the haughty, the ones with the power and the money and the pride … God will tear their house down.

That's who God is.  That's what He's like.  Back then.  Today.  Forever.

What do you reckon?  Worth thinking about?
