Are You Kidding You?

by Berni Dymet

2Cor. 13:5  Examine yourselves to see whether you are living in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless, indeed, you fail to meet the test!

We've probably all heard that saying - are you kidding me?  And we know what it means.  But let me ask you - are you kidding you?

Now - that's a little uncomfortable isn't it? Am I deluding myself - am I kidding myself?

A lot of people when you ask them - Are you going to heaven? - will give you the John 3:16 answer - Yeah, sure, I believe in Jesus - I'm in!

Hmm.

But here's an uncomfortable truth. Over and over again in the Bible - Jesus and others like the Apostle Paul - talk about the fact that the evidence of our faith, is how we live our lives.

It's not that what we do gets us into God's favor. It's not what we do that gets us into heaven. That's not it. We don't work our way into heaven!

But what we do, is the evidence of what's happening in our hearts.  What we do, how we live - well that has to change, if deep in our heart, we've accepted Jesus Christ.  It has to … doesn't it?
