Leading you Heart and Home - Monday, April 17th 2017

Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
NKJV

The bible tells us to be rooted and grounded in love (Ephesians 3:17). The word of God tells us without love we are nothing but a clanging cymbal (1 Corinthians 13:1), that we are supposed to pursue love (1 Cor 14:1), and abide in it (1 Cor 13:13). When our foundation is set on the Lord's love for us in the marriage, in the home, and in the church these relationships grow sweeter. This is especially important as the intensity of battles increase.

Friend it's not if, but when the battles will come into your home. Often the husband leans on the authority he has in the relationship with his wife in such a way he minimizes her abilities and effectiveness in the kingdom. Brothers this shouldn't be! Proverbs 31 describes the virtuous woman. In Hebrew, the word virtuous can be defined as 'warrior' describing the warrior woman. When we are in the heat of the battle we want to equip our spouses to be ready to fight fully, not to be disengaged or unarmed. This helps us preserve unity within the marriage as well.

This also holds true in the body of Christ, the church, also known as the Bride of Christ in Ephesians 5. Jesus pours out His gifts of the Spirit on our lives so that we might walk in the fullness of His calling upon our lives. The Lord desires to cleanse us, make us holy without blemish or wrinkle, nourish, and cherish us His people in such a way we can't help but respond with grateful service toward Him. God doesn't need us to do everything, but He does expect us to walk in our giftings for His glory in the church so that we might be the glorious Bride of Christ in this world.

Life Lesson: The mission of your family, the mission of your marriage, the mission of your home, is to reach and teach, to evangelize and disciple.

Lord please help me fulfill my call. Please allow the Spirit to draw out the gifts that You placed in me to live for Your glory in this world. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Living to tell what He died to say,
