Consider the Heavens - Saturday, January 14th 2017

Psalm 8:3-4

3 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, 4 What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?
NKJV

There was a point in time before technology existed with smart phones, tablets, television, and the internet that people would walk outside and look up at the heavens in wonderment at the vast expanse of God's creation. In the Middle East at that time many people would sleep on their rooftops watching the sky as they drifted off to sleep.

Psalm 19:1-4
1 The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. 2 Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard. 4 Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world.
NKJV

What is God saying? What are the heavens declaring to us? That God is and He is amazing toward us. Long before the zodiac, which is a false method used by people to suggest the stars are giving us day to day advice, God is declaring His sovereign power and message to us through the stars and heavens.

While we do not worship the 'heavens', we do acknowledge, worship and thank the God who gave us signs in the heavens and pictures from His word that point us to seeing Him orchestrating all the events that lead us into a deeper relationship with Him. Friend, as we encounter our day to day life let us be continually grateful for all that God has blessed us with, amazed by His handiwork, and the precious message of forgiveness, love, and eternal life that we have been shown through Jesus Christ. Look up, look around you, and look into the promises of His word. Ask His Spirit to refill and refresh your heart and your relationship with Him and allow Him to blow your mind and heart as He shows up and shows off His grace in your life today!

Life Lesson: The author of the Bible, and the One who created the stars and put them in place, in patterns, are One and the same, God.

Lord,
Thank you. You have made all the beauties and wonders of the heavens. Even in the vastness of all Your creation, You had me in mind. You had a plan to redeem me, to save me, and to cause my life to reflect the image of Jesus Christ and to know You personally. Thank You for Your death for me Lord and thank You for resurrecting and coming to now live through me. Please let me to allow You to direct my path and all I do this day. I pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

Living to tell what He died to say,
