Today's Thoughts:  United We Stand

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons.  1 Corinthians 12:4-6

We have been working with women in media for a little over a year. Some of these women are in secular media while others are using media in their ministries.  I have spent some time thinking about the difference between "women in Christian media" and "Christian women in media." The biggest difference is who you are ultimately representing.

Women who are in Christian media means that we work in an area of media with the responsibility of representing Jesus Christ as we influence today's culture. This is accomplished through different platforms, by using different gifts and respecting different callings.

It became so obvious to me that Paul says the same thing in 1 Corinthians 12 for all believers. As Christians, we honor the differences in backgrounds, denominations, cultures, styles, and creativity of what each person brings to the body of Christ. We are all unique and we appreciate our differences as we work together for the purposes of Christ.

However, as a collective whole, we have a fundamental component making us very much the same… we worship the same God.  In this aspect, we are the same. Our standard of ethic, principles and conviction come from God's Word, the Bible.  Even though we are different, we speak the same language because we pray and serve the same God.

The Word of God is the foundation of the Christians beliefs. Our versions and interpretations may variety but His Words do not.  Heaven and earth will pass away but the Word of God abides forever.  Because of the eternal nature of our faith, we continue to apply His Word to our lives and help others to do the same.

Sometimes, I see Christians worrying so much on what may be different between us instead of embracing all the things that are the same.  We have the same God and this One God is working through each one of us differently because we have differences that He can use for the same purpose of Jesus Christ.

United we stand but divided we fall. Personally, I want to stand for Christ with you, even if you are different than me!

Daily Disciples Ministries has a sister company called Media 4 Women. Our hearts desire is to help women market their God-given gifts to the world through media. Media 4 Women works with women who have a secular or Christian platform.  If you are interested, please email us at info@media4women.com

Pray about it: Oh Lord, unite us as one as Jesus prayed. Help us to use our differences to become stronger for the same purposes of Christ.

Our mission is to evangelize the lost and awaken the saved to live empowered lives by the Work of God and His Holy Spirit. Daily Disciples Ministries makes a difference for the kingdom of God by teaching and training believers how to be in God's Word, how to pray and how to walk with Jesus every day, as His daily disciple.
