Pressing On To Maturity

“Therefore leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity,” Hebrews 6:1

No one is born as an adult physically. We don’t start our lives with the ability to walk and talk and reason. We begin as infants, and then grow each day from that point on. We learn, develop, and mature over time. The same is true spiritually.

We aren’t “born again” (as the Bible describes it) as spiritual adults. The Christian life is a decision (accepting Christ) followed by a process (maturation). However, our spiritual maturity, unlike our physical maturity, has nothing to do with age. It has everything to do with our pursuit of a relationship with Christ. Are you pursuing Him? Are you pressing on to maturity?

Thank God for the process of maturing in Christ. Pray for the discernment to know where you are in your development, and for the discipline to press on to maturity.

One of the signs of healthy development physically is the ability to feed one’s self. Begin to feed yourself spiritually as well. Set aside time each day to pray and read God’s Word. And discover the joy of maturing in Christ!
