Alter Your Confession

“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” >Proverbs 18:21

THINK

Did you know your words have the power of life and death? God’s word says they do. So imagine the difference your words can make when you are speaking: “I hate my life” speaks death.  Turn that phrase into “I love my life” or “my life is blessed.” Learn to turn your negative into positive. Our words create an atmosphere in our lives. Hebrews 4:12 says they are “sharper than any double-edged sword.”  God’s word is the first edge of the sword and our words are the second.  Alter your confession and be mindful of what you say out loud.  If you keep the atmosphere right, things will grow naturally. So speak life, strength and peace in all things!

PRAY

God, help me to be mindful of my words and the power that they have.  Help me to alter my confession and speak life.

ACT

Find someone close to you, such as a spouse or best friend, and ask them to help you be accountable for the negative words you speak. Get connected to a women’s or men’s group at your church.
