Seeing Red! - Encouragement Café - April 11, 2016

Seeing Red! by Angela Moran

Monday, April 11, 2016

Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

Isaiah 1:18 NIV

I love those days when I wake up before the alarm and I can take a few minutes to pray about my day.  In Psalm 5:3 NIV, it says

In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.

It’s so reassuring to know that God is there and hears our voice as soon as we speak.  Sometimes I wonder if He stands over us, moments before we wake, speaking words of life and love over us.  He is a good, good Father.

Imagine your list of prayer requests and picture yourself laying them at the feet of Jesus.   We can wait expectantly knowing He will take care of them.  We can trust that he has our best interest in mind.  He is a good, good Father.

Now, what about those days when I don’t wake up before the alarm and life hits me in the face like a tons of bricks.  It’s almost like I wake up with 3D glasses on -- but both lenses are RED!  My attitude and perspective are horrible - and everyone around me knows it.  My tone is a bit too harsh, my patience is way too thin, and everything just makes me angrier!  Yikes!

Imagine yourself, on days like this, taking off those red lenses and replacing them with white lenses - the one that gives the peace that seeing freshly fallen white snow brings.  Our sins are forgiven.  God sent his son to die on the cross for our heartaches, burdens and shame.  He is a good, good Father.

Life isn’t easy.  We can’t do it perfectly.  We can rest in knowing God has us covered.

Regardless of how badly we screw up, the blood sacrifice is enough.

He is a good, good father.

When you have 5 minutes, find a quiet place to be alone.  It may be while you are in the shower, sitting in the carpool lane, or doing the dishes.  Listen to this song.  Let the truth of the song pour over you.

Chris Tomlin: Good, Good Father

Dear God -- You are a good, good Father.  I’m loved by You.  It’s who You are.  Thank You for loving us, regardless of our repeated failures.  You are pleased with us.   May the warmth of Your love surround us today.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
